Parking
The sun is shining. There is a gentle breeze. A little cycling on the Katy Trail sounds good. But, where to park? Planning your adventure beforehand will ensure you have a smooth day and focus on enjoying the ride rather than frustrated over where to leave the car. Look at our guide below to show you all the best places to park your car so you can begin your fun.
Clay Street Trailhead Plaza
The plaza is located at the intersection of Clay Street and West Main Street at the entrance to the Missouri River Bridge. Here, pedestrians and cyclists can begin their voyage across the bridge on the walkway. The trailhead offers off-street parking, a water fountain, informational signage, park benches, and safe access to the Katy Trail via the bridge’s sidewalk.
Red Wheel Bike Shop
Would you prefer to hitch a ride to a farther point of the Katy Trail and bike back? Park your vehicle at Red Wheel Bike Shop and book the East or West shuttle to enjoy more miles on the trail. End your journey back at the shop and indulge in beer, soda, or snacks while you reminisce about your trip.
Madison Street Parking Garage
Grab a bite to eat before or after your ride and explore the downtown Jefferson City area when you park in the convenient Madison Street Parking Garage. This spot is the perfect location if you want to be in the city center and don’t mind being a bit farther from the trail. From here, you will ride a short distance to the Missouri River Bridge and begin your excursion.
North Jefferson City Trailhead
Going for a shorter jaunt? Park your vehicle at the North Jefferson City Trailhead. While this spot doesn’t allow you the opportunity to start in the heart of Jefferson City, it is located directly next to the trail and will give you the closest access from your car to the Katy.
