It’s the hap-happiest season of all and there’s no place like Jefferson City, Missouri for the holidays! JCMO is a beautiful sight all year long, but add twinkling lights, cheer, and deliciously warm drinks and you are in for an extra treat. We’ve compiled some just-for-the-holidays events around town.

Letters to Santa - Make sure you send your Letter to Santa this year! From December 1-December 6, 2020, drop off your letter to Santa in the Children’s Area of Missouri River Regional Library at the special mailbox to the North Pole!

Mayor’s Tree Lighting Ceremony (Virtual Event) - Kick off the holiday season with the Mayor’s Tree Lighting Ceremony! This year's celebration will be held virtually and will feature videos submitted by local bands and choirs in addition to showcasing holiday crafts and much more. Grab a cup of hot chocolate, snuggle under your favorite blanket, and enjoy the event!

Candlelight Tours of the Missouri Governor’s Mansion – Experience the glow of the holidays at the Governor’s Mansion! This event showcases the residence in full holiday décor as it is adorned with sparkling lights and lush greenery. Reservations are required for this year's event. Tours are offered every 15 minutes and attendees must stay with their family group.

Capitol City Cinema Holiday Film Series - Head to Capitol City Cinema for some holiday favorites! Full schedule can be found here. Be sure to get there early, as seating will be limited!

Capital City Festival of Lights - Join in on the holiday fun at Binder Park with a drive-thru display of choreographed lights synced to holiday music, stretching over a mile long. This fundraiser is open to the public and all proceeds go to help local charities. Tour starts at Binder Lake Road off Rainbow Drive.

Capitol Caroling - Join in the holiday tradition at the Jefferson City Public Schools Capitol Caroling event in the Missouri State Capitol rotunda! The performance will include seven holiday favorites, performed by the JCHS choir and band programs. This year's performance will not be open to the public, but will be livestreamed on the JCHS Activities Youtube channel.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Jefferson City Jingle Dash Fun Walk Run - Runners and walkers of all ages welcome and holiday attire/costumes encouraged for this non-competitive event through the Capital City Festival of Lights! Best holiday attire award will be presented.

Skate with Santa - Santa is making an appearance at Washington Park Ice Arena! Join him for a lap around the rink to help him work up an appetite for all those cookies and milk.

See our calendar for event times, and don't forget to support your favorite JCMO shops as you celebrate the season!
