Themed State Capitol Tours: Background, Foreground, and Figures

The third Friday of each month, staff at the Missouri State Museum will take visitors on a themed tour of the Missouri State Capitol at 3 pm. These tours are different from the standard tours given daily at the museum. Themed tours explore a wide array of topics from in-depth looks at specific artworks to tours exploring the Capitol as a product of the resources of Missouri.

Come a few minutes early and check in at the Missouri State Museum tour desk just off the Capitol rotunda.


July 17: Explorers, Scientists, Artists, Presidents and More: The Hall of Famous Missourians
Explore the Hall of Famous Missourians with a Capitol guide.

Aug. 21: Background, Foreground and Figures
Come learn about the history and techniques used to construct museum dioramas

Sept. 18: Four Lunettes
Background and history of the Battle of Sacramento, 1847; Vauquois Heights; Riches of the Mines; and Reclamation of the South

Time: 3-4 pm
