Connect at Parker’s Place, an amazing place to stay to discover Jefferson City and all it has to offer!
Directly across Lafayette Street from the Missouri State Prison Museum sits Parker’s Place. This beautiful home overlooks the oldest state prison west of the Mississippi River and much of Missouri’s capitol city. It’s now a destination for families and friends to connect with each other and the fascinating history of Lester S. Parker and his wonderful red brick neo-classical mansion, built in 1905 with prison labor. A civic leader, painter, poet, author, and lecturer – Mr. Parker owned a shoe factory inside the walls of the prison and was an advisor to the Decorating Committee of the Missouri Capitol. The central location is in walking distance of the old Missouri State Penitentiary and the Missouri State Capitol, which both offer tours; shopping and dining in downtown Jefferson City; and the Katy Trail, a popular hiking and cycling trail with rental bikes available.
