Why choose Jefferson City? Presenting both rural and urban scenery, Missouri’s Capital City offers a diverse landscape to choose from including historic landmarks and a charming downtown.
Jefferson City is also home to one of the most legendary decommissioned prisons in the country, the Missouri State Penitentiary (MSP). Recent film projects featuring MSP include television shows such as the Travel Channel’s Ghost Adventures
, Syfy’s Ghost Hunters
, Bio Channel’s My Ghost Story
and the History Channel’s American Pickers
. Independent feature films include Haunting of Cellblock 11
and Darkness Reigns
, both written and directed by Andrew P. Jones.
We understand the smallest details of the production can sometimes be the most difficult to navigate. Our team is prepared to help your crew seamlessly carry out your film project from picking the location to setting
the scene and even the red carpet premiere!
The Jefferson City Convention and Visitors Bureau will work with various hotels and businesses to help find a suitable base camp and production office and secure lodging at affordable prices. Additionally, as a small community, Jefferson City is short of constraints in terms of permits and the CVB will help obtain them as needed through city and county channels. We will also work with local authorities to set-up street closings and help with traffic flow. Whether it’s lighting and sound, car rentals or catering, everything you need can be found in Central Missouri. Check out Missouri Film Commission’s list of support services here
