Armistice Day at the Missouri State Archives

Allied forces signed the armistice ending World War I on the “11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918.” To celebrate the centennial of this momentous occasion, the Missouri State Archives is hosting a World War I themed event.

Featured presenters Christina Miller from the Missouri State Archives; Ben Divin from the Springfield-Greene County Library District and Missouri Over There website; Amanda Langendoerfer and Dr. Jason McDonald from Truman State University; and Cole County author Jeremy Amick will speak on Missouri’s participation in World War I. An exhibit including Harry S. Truman’s World War I records will also be on display, while interactive activities for children and performances of an original short skit entitled "Uncle Sam Wants You!" will be offered intermittently throughout the day.
