The month of May brings warmer temperatures and numerous outdoor events to Jefferson City including the return of two popular car shows, Shelbyfest All Mustang Rally and the Capital City Corvette Classic.
Back for its 11th year, Shelbyfest, has proven to be the most unique and exciting car show of its kind. The idea began when six Shelby GT500 owners got together to show off their cars, attracting passersby who shared photos and stories leading to the generation of the first Shelbyfest in Hermann, MO. Eventually the event grew beyond capacity and Shelbyfest organizer, Kyle Caraway decided to move the event to Jefferson City.
In its first year in the capital city, over 660 cars filled the streets of Downtown and organizers only see that number continuing to grow. This year's Shelbyfest will take place May 4-6 and include two days of autocross, a scenic country cruise, a Cinco de Mayo party, and the main event the "Show and Shine" on Saturday. Owners will compete for several different awards including the Best of Show and Mayor's Cup while spectators swoon over Corvettes from each era. Registrants can vote on their favorite classes from C1 to C7 convertible and coupe. For more event details, click here.
Car enthusiasts are also encouraged to attend a monthly cruise-in at the Capital Mall, taking place the last Saturday of each month from 4:00-8:00 pm, April through September.
