Jefferson City’s first microbrewery since prohibition is now open. Prison Brews offers six home-brewed beers ranging from pale ale to stout, all boasting prison-related names like "Deathrow Stout", "Cellmate Pale Ale" and "I Ain’t Your Honey Wheat." The sampler includes six, six ounce glasses of beer for only $6.
A wood-fire pizza oven makes delicious pizzas of several varieties such as margarita, creole shrimp and meat lovers. Other menu items include the delicious 8 oz. prison burger, fish and chips, mushroom linguine and KC strip steak. The entire brewery and restaurant is themed after a prison, including the most notable decoration, metal bars around the waiting area and bar area. A seating area in the basement, outfitted with pool table, dart board and jukebox, is available for private parties, but is open to the public when not reserved.
The large patio has seating for 90 and two bocce ball courts for some entertainment during your meal.
